If you had to sum up 2021 in a few words, “Full of surprises” would do just fine. For OneScreen, new partnerships and new people helped us grow in surprising new directions, even in a world full of uncertainties.
Technology in the classroom isn’t a new concept by any means. Ancient Greece had a very tech-forward education system, as did Ancient China and the Middle East.
School IT specialists are tasked with keeping classroom technology running smoothly. In the best case scenario, teachers, students and administrators don’t even see all the work that IT specialists do to make that happen.
In recent years, the need for the right technology in the classroom has grown dramatically. Initially, school staff were resistant to change for several reasons – teachers didn’t want to spend additional time learning new systems, IT was wary of supporting it, and traditionalists suggested reducing screen time in the classroom, note-taking on devices and really, anything that ventured beyond the prototypical paper, pencil, and textbook.
Every school has a unique set of specific goals that they strive to achieve.. These goals may include improving student test scores, improving teacher effectiveness, increasing student performance, and creating a welcoming learning environment.
Technology in the classroom enhances teaching methods and puts students at the core of the learning process; a much different approach to education compared to the traditional lecture model. Laptops, other advanced devices, and customized software serve as essential tools that students can use to direct their education.
At the North American Office Products Awards (NAOPA), OneScreen GoSafe won Best New Technology of 2021. Host Janet Bell presented the award to OneScreen’s Zunaira Munir, VP Global Business Development.
Having current EdTech in the classroom makes it possible for students to keep up with a rapidly changing world. Classrooms don’t look the same as they did eighteen months prior, let alone 10 years ago —nor should they. The best education reflects reality, and technology is the future. The opportunity for students to engage with technology and their learning experience remains a top priority for educators.
